Today I spent a lot of time at a local bookstore looking for any information I could find about Linkedin and how it could be utilized both personally and for clients to strengthen their online identity.
I was recently told that I will have the opportunity to help build and create a social media strategy with a client I currently work with. This strategy can potentially be used on a corporate level and I am looking for ways to integrate multiple social media platforms within the plan.
I know it’s fairly late and this has been around for several years now, but from what I’ve learned today, I found plenty of benefits to using Linkedin.
Some of the more obvious benefits include:
- Strengthening online identity
- Gaining contacts
- Expanding Networks
But other advantages include:
- Increasing link profile (as a website optimization function)
- Group interaction opportunities
- Industry specific target marketing
- Improved client relations
- Q&A Functions
And the list could go on. This may be information that’s already known, but if it’s something that you were a little unsure about, I would suggest looking into it to see how it could help you and/or your business.

Came across this image during my internship at a local firm in the Sacramento area.
I thought it was an interesting way of looking at social media as an ongoing conversation. Everything starts from an “idea” or “brand” that is put out into this cloud of conversation which is then brought back in with various feedback & insight to either strengthen or kill the idea.
Also helps to find new ways or places to share ideas and spread conversation.
